Rob Kearney appears set to miss the RBS Six Nations Championship

After undergoing surgery on the injury he sustained in the 38-18 defeat to New Zealand,Rob Kearney will be out for several months confirmed by The player's Magners League club Leinster.

For the Six Nations opener against Italy on February 5,Rob is still unlikely to be fit for the game even with a swift recovery.

It is a significant blow for both province and country, who have winger Luke Fitzgerald also sidelined until the new year with a knee problem and Brian O'Driscoll out with a broken jaw.

"After his surgery last week, Rob Kearney seems set to sit out the next few months on the sidelines," Leinster said.
